Pasta
It was an invention of the Chinese, not the Italians as one would think, that gave us pasta. We now have many shapes and forms of Pasta used through out the world. Pasta preserved the energy provided by wheat and cabbage, or sauerkraut as we call it today, which served as the main diet for the troops of Ganges Khan. Because pasta is dry and can be easily stored, it was a staple food that armies could carry and survive on.

When pasta was introduced as macaroni in Europe it was considered a luxury dish and fit only for nobles and upper classes. Laws were passed regulating who was allowed make it, who was allowed to eat it, and on what days it would be served.

This drawing represents the many diverse and popular forms of pasta that are available today. Consumed by every culture it has been called the most popular food in the world.
